Leah is Four!!

I truly cannot believe that Leah is four.  My kids are all pretty close together so for almost 10 straight years there were one or more kids in diapers or some other baby stage, and I had three kids at home all the time before anyone went off to kindergarten.  Leah came home when Luke was in 2nd grade, Seth was still in preschool, and Ian was only two.  That's crazy to me and now it's done!  My youngest is four and not even close to a baby--although she totally has her moments.  I'm starting to get what they say about these years flying by.  In two years Leah will be in kindergarten, and I will officially be done with the little, little kid stage.  That's crazy and a little sad, so I really do need to savor every moment and try not to sweat the small stuff.

Leah has been such an amazing addition to our family.  She is so loved.  She can be mean, but her brothers love her so much.  Ian is her best little buddy, and she is really going to be lost without him next year when he's in school all day.  Leah is smart and funny.  She makes us laugh.  She was a very easy toddler and is now a not-so-easy four-year-old.  She's hitting that whiny, clingy, scared of strangers, won't talk to anyone outside the family phase a little late, but I'm sure she'll grow out of that too. When she is home and being herself she is really fun to be around.  She talks a mile a minute, sings Primary and Disney songs at the top of her lungs, loves to help me with just about anything, and is my little shadow.  Leah is doing well in preschool and loves her teacher.  She was doing well in Sunbeams but not so much anymore.  Leah is a tough little cookie with an independent spirit.  She is creative and resourceful and uses that little arm like nobody's business.  She has brothers and there the times she said "butt hair" repeatedly or discussed a "butt crack with a fart" at length, but in general she's sweet!  She asks me often to "snuggle her" and gives the best tight hugs and kisses.  This girl loves us fiercely and we love her right back.  She's a force to be reckoned with. Watch out world!

Leah's cousins and grandparents came over for a Frozen birthday party.  Ian, Leah, and Seth made snowflakes to decorate.  Some of the best ones were hers...watching her hold that paper and cut is one of many examples of times she amazes me!  I did my best with a Frozen cake--one that was simple and didn't require me to have a million hours and some professional sculpting experience.  The kids ate pizza, ran around and played, ate cake and ice cream, made mini Olafs, and opened presents.

Happy Birthday Leah!

Halloween 2014

The kids were way excited about Halloween this year.  Ian was especially excited about being Dracula or a "fampire" as Leah called it.  He wanted face paint and hair coloring and the whole 9 yards for school, so I had to wake him up early.  When I woke him up early thirty he sat bolt upright and asked for the face paint the second I reminded him it was Halloween.  It is fun to see their excitement.  This year we had a nerd, minion, vampire, and of course Elsa--our Asian Elsa!  The weather was beautiful and warm, and we had a great time trick or treating in Red Slide--chili dinner, cotton candy, full size candy bars...they had the goods! I also had the chance to help with Luke's last elementary Halloween party which is kind of sad when I think about it.  I took pics of the boys before school and then made them pose again for a minute before we took off trick or treating.
